For many years, I have been working as a landlord and tenant lawyer, with experience in residential conveyancing (commonhold and leasehold), complex enfranchisement transactions, commonhold disputes and in landlord and tenant litigation. I am a member of the Property Litigation Association (PLA).
I currently work part-time for the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities advising on all aspects of commonhold and leasehold reform, having joined the Department following a year working at the Law Commission on the Right to Manage project. I have worked on various legislation including the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022, the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023, and am currently working on the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill and on the Renters Reform Bill. As well as the reform work, I retain a private practice and manage Commonhold and Leasehold Experts Limited.
I have for many years provided a pro bono service for leaseholders in need of advice, working closely with various leasehold charities over the years. I continue to provide this service where I can.
In addition, I have edited industry textbooks on behalf of LexisNexis Butterworths and Atkins, and regularly run webinars for professionals on a range of topics. I also speak at conferences including Leasehold London, Leasehold Roadshow and for Leasehold Management Professionals.
